By any means necessary should never apply to mountaineering, especially when it involves just raping, pilaging, and then discarding the most magestic mountain in the world. This is no "great accomplishment" by any means, and these Russian climbers have absolutely zero class, nor conscience. They are in one word "PATHETIC" excuses of mountaineers (seriosly, do not even attempt to call yourselves mountaineers). If they want to accomplish something great, then they should go clean up all of their trash that they discarded along their way of discarding the mountain! Alpine style? PLEASE!!!

P.S. Anyone who wrote comments here saying that the author of this article is a hippocrit etc., and that the Russians are couragous and have accomplished something great in mountaineering should go join these short-sighted rapists as they destroy the rest of the worlds great mountains as they seek their glory "by any means necesary."

P.S.S. Pete may think that Vince is a hippocrit, but Pete is an absolute moron if he thinks that "Respect" and "freedom of choice" should give people who have no business beng on K2 the right to bring this mountain down to their level "by any means necessary". Go Vince!

Hey Vince I’m with you 100 % on this one bro . I was born and raised in romania before moving to US, so nobody can fuckin preach the whole “you don’t get the cultural differences “bullshit on me. They did not climbed the west face of k2, they just jugged ropes to the summit. I’ve been feeling sick and tired about what russians call “alpinism” for years. babanov retro bolted twight’s routes in the alps and nobody said shit at the time.
Love without consent from both sides is called rape….maybe they didn’t get that memo. If these days , military discipline is more valuable then true talent in the alpine world, maybe I should throw those damn ice tools in the garbage.

P.S. You should repost what you wrote about K2 every other month or so…maybe all these losers will finally get it someday .
