Terms and Conditions

  • Skyward Mountaineering is a small, independent business and we are committed to fully supporting our clie to find a solution should you need to cancel a trip, we want you to join us in the mountains and we want our guides to be paid for promised work. Please thoroughly review our cancellation policy and let us know ASAP should you need to make adjustments or cancel a trip.

Cancellations made by the client for any reason are considered cancellations and follow our policy outlined below. We are not responsible for cancellation fees or costs arising from your changed or cancelled flights, lodging or other arrangements - we strongly recommend obtaining trip cancellation insurance.

    • More than 21 days before your trip = full refund, less a $50 per person administrative fee ($500 for expeditions or corporate programs)

    • 21 days or less before your trip = 50% deposit is non-refundable

    • 7 days or less before your trip = no refund for cancellations, for any reason

    • Rescheduling is subject to availability, though we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule changes. Rescheduling is subject to a $50 per person fee with more than 21 days notice.

  • We guide in the mountains extensively and the weather isn’t always perfect. Many objectives can still be successfully and safely enjoyed given the right precautions and equipment; we reserve the right to make the decision as to whether the program will be cancelled, rescheduled or an alternative provided. In the rare circumstance where we need to cancel a program you can reschedule without a fee or receive a full refund.

If circumstances arise that force us to cancel a program that is already in progress we reserve the right to decide whether a refund or credit, at a prorated rate, will be issued. No refunds will be issued for expeditions as there is a significant invested logistics cost.

  • Skyward Mountaineering reserves the right to cancel a program or attempt to reschedule at your convenience for any reason. This may be due to conditions, guide availability, or inadequate enrollment on for a course.

Our courses typically have a minimum of 2 participants. Though rare, if we are unable to sign up enough students to operate a course, you will be given the option to switch to a private instructional trip and pay the difference in cost, reschedule to a different date or receive a full refund.

  • Trip insurance is strongly recommended for all domestic trips. World Nomads Explorer Plan is a good option as it typically covers activities such as ski mountaineering and climbing.

For international expeditions, in addition to highly recommending trip insurance we require an emergency rescue insurance, such as Global Rescue (consider adding their in-house IMG Travel Insurance for a bundle option). Members of the American Alpine Club may have discounted or included access to this service.

Skyward Mountaineering is not associated with any travel insurance broker, you should research the policy you sign up for and know the limitations and coverage details. Policies can change without notice, though we have had success with clients using the aforementioned providers.
