Rising to 10,781 feet, Mount Baker is the third highest mountain in Washington and the second most glaciated volcano in the Cascade Range. Its extensive glaciers and diverse climbing terrain make it an exceptional destination for learning mountaineering skills, developing glacier travel and snow and ice climbing techniques, and preparing for more challenging alpine objectives in the Greater Ranges. The name Kulshan, meaning The Shooting Place in the Nooksack language, reflects the rich indigenous history and abundance of hunting opportunities in the lush forest at the base of the mountain.
