Alaska Ski Mountaineering Camp
7 Days of Guided Ski Mountaineering in Denali National Park
Spend a week deep in the Alaska Range, skiing from a remote basecamp in Denali National Park with Skyward Mountaineering. This 7 day ski mountaineering camp combines the freedom of overnight backcountry skiing with the efficiency and comfort of a fixed basecamp, allowing us to pursue a variety of ski descents from the surrounding peaks and glaciers.
Our basecamp provides a comfortable and strategic home for a week of exploring Alaska's enormous mountains. From camp, we travel light for daily ski objectives, climbing couloirs and ridges before descending some of the most spectacular ski terrain in the Alaska Range. The exact location and objectives for the expedition vary based on the current conditions. Popular ski mountaineering camps include the Pika Glacier, Eldridge Glacier, Buckskin Glacier, and the Triple Crown, along with other opportunities selected by our guides.
Schedule: The open enrollment Alaska Ski Camp is 7 days in length. Custom ski expeditions are also available for riders looking for a private trip.
Group Size: Maximum of 4 riders per guide and a minimum of 2 riders for the trip to operate.

Ski the Alaska Range From a Remote Basecamp
The Alaska Range offers a scale and variety of terrain that is difficult to find anywhere else. Massive glaciers, high peaks, steep couloirs, and expansive remote terrain create an exceptional environment for ski mountaineering.
Rather than following a rigid itinerary, our guides use the conditions to determine where we can find the best skiing and most rewarding objectives. A typical expedition begins with establishing our basecamp and doing reconnaissance of the current snowpack conditions. From there, each day is dedicated to exploring the surrounding peaks and ski lines.
With 7 days planned on the glacier, the days may include:
Glacier travel and ski mountaineering instruction
Steep skiing in tight couloirs or complex faces
Steep snow climbing
Traversing big glaciated terrain
Summit objectives
Skiing moderate, open slopes
Technical ski mountaineering
Deep powder
Hanging out with new friends in basecamp, enjoying a rewarding meal in the mountains
Epic views of the Alaska Range during the glacier flight in and out of the mountains

Why Ski With Skyward Mountaineering?
We have been guiding skiers in complex terrain since 1996. Our approach combines technical expertise, careful risk management, detailed logistics, and a commitment to creating high quality experiences in the mountains.
In Alaska, those principles are particularly important. Remote terrain and dynamic conditions require guides who can make sound decisions without the resources of an avalanche forecast like in other mountain environments.
